Biography

Charlotte has been playing the flute since the age of eight. For five years, whilst studying at the University of Huddersfield, she undertook Flute lessons with Alan Lockwood, completing a B.Mus (Hons) in Performance and then an M.Mus in Performance Studies.

During her time at University Charlotte had the opportunity to attend and participate in masterclasses given by Wissam Boustany, Ian Clarke, Clare Southworth, Jacques Zoom and Robert Dick. All of which have helped develop her as a flautist.

Whilst at University Charlotte participated in a large number of ensembles on both flute and saxophone under the leadership of Philip Mccan, Natalia Luis-Bassa, Sarah Markham and Barrie Webb. These have included the University of Huddersfield Symphonic Wind Orchestra, New Music Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra and Saxophone Ensemble.

Upon completing her Masters degree, Charlotte joined the Band of the Yorkshire Regiment as principal flute/piccolo. This position has given Charlotte the chance to perform regularly, both with the main band and with the Woodwind Quintet and Saxophone Quartet.

In addition Charlotte is Principal Flute of the New Northern Philharmonic Orchestra, a newly founded Orchestra made up of University Graduates. Membership in this Orchestra has allowed Charlotte to further explore the Orchestral repertoire and to perform at such prestigious venues as Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall.
